On September 4, 2014, Judge Carl Barbier of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana issued Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law related to the Phase One Trial of MDL 2179.

Judge Carl Barbier of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana issued Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law related to the Phase One Trial of MDL 2179 regarding BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil spill of April 20, 2010 in which Kanner & Whiteley served as trial counsel for the State of Louisiana. In that ruling Judge Barbier found that BPXP is subject to enhanced civil penalties under the Clean Water Act as a result of its gross negligence and willful misconduct. Additionally the court apportioned fault among BPXP, Transocean and Hallibuton. A link to the court’s ruling is attached hereto:
